North of England Third Section Champions add to their trophies for 2007

Second Place in the Third Section
a great showing after last years 8th
in the fourth section.
The adjudicators comments were
very positive but did comment on
our chairmans section so the rest
of the band didn't mention it much?
Our performance was not without
mistakes but we thought it sounded
pretty good and Bab's and Alan
both had us second agreeing with
the adjudicator so a fair fight.
Gary at one point during our
performance was seen to be smiling
although wind could not be ruled
out?
Our placing was one of great coincidence as the 'Ian Hobdey Memorial Trophy' which is awarded to
the band who gains second place, was presented to the Buxton Brass Band Festival to mark the
death of Ian Hobdey who played Trombone with the Fairfield Band up until his death five years ago.

and along with his two daughters Suzanne and Louise,
and three grandaugthers all of whom play in the band.
