Welcome to the Barton Town Band
Peter Roberts & Jon Evison. What a day! Got the triple - we qualified
for the Finals - gained promotion to the 1st section, then got socially
confused in the Boot and Shoe.
A good day had by all, but it could have been very different. Coming off
stage the band were disappointed with their performance, Mr Evans
was not happy - too many splits in the opening movement although we
were happier about the 2nd which had all through the rehearsals been
our strong movement. And on this occasion fortunately Peter Roberts
agreed.
And did I mention the Bass section got the cup
for best basses?

The Band having just spent £17K on 4 York Basses I should hope so, John Rogers seemed
pleased especially when Alan Hope announced from the stage that we had been playing on
the contest sponsors instruments.
For the third year, in
consecutive sections.

Barton Town Mayor and full council congratulate the
Band on their success at the Northern Area Contest.
Councillor Margaret Sidell at a full council meeting asked the councillors to join her in congratulating the towns band on their
success and expressed the Council's pride in having such a committed group to carry the towns name, other councillors
joined the Mayor in praise of the band members.
