Welcome to the Barton Town Band
Barton Town Band at Grimsby Town Hall

On Friday the 29th June Barton Town Band returns in concert to Grimsby Town Hall. The band has had a
fantastic year - after coming 6th in the National Brass Band Championship of Great Britain they maintained their
form by gaining promotion to the third section, then another win at the Northern Area in March this year, again
gaining promotion this time to the second section and again qualifying for the National Finals in September. A
number two spot at the Famous Buxton Spar contest held in May rounded of a good 6th month run of contest
success.

This local top class outfit will offer a varied program with old brass band favorites, themes from stage and
screen and some cleverly arranged and lively numbers that many would be surprised a brass band could
perform, items include the main theme from Star Wars, 1940’s big band number Light Walk, Overture from
Mack and Mabel, Queen’s major hit Bohemian Rhapsody and many others.  The band is looking forward to
performing in Grimsby again as, acoustically and visually, they rate it as one of the best venues they perform in.

The band supports a 70 strong youth band and is busily raising funds to purchase the youth band a quality set
of instruments. Children are free with accompanying adults as the band has a policy of encouraging younger
people to enjoy all live acoustic music and specifically that of Brass Bands. Tickets are available from Grimsby
Central library, Caxton Theatre box office as well as on the door priced £8.  Program starts at 7-30pm.

Barton are noted for their innovative and humorous performances, with their conductor Garry Oglesby at the
helm we can guarantee a very high quality evening of dramatic and emotive music from one of our area’s top
bands.
